Chokes - what not to do
by Nick C 6 Months, 2 Weeks ago
We've all been a white belt (I still am!), so we can all remember and appreciate not knowing the rules, what to do etc. That being said, I would never make fun of a fellow jiu-jitsu fighter at any level, but this is just too funny on several levels to not share.

Adopt and overcome. Interesting technique. Good for the street.

That's interesting. I didn't know that that was against the rules. I do know that you are permitted to choke an opponent using your gi.

Damn that was embarrassing, if a dude tried to choke me with a belt (if that was legal) I would have to punch him and got the dq just to save my ass the shame. What's next? They gonna hang someone? That dude is crazy.

I've done this before. I don't see why it's illegal. I thought you could use anything in the ring. A guy grabbed my sleeve once; I pulled my arm out and then choked him with my sleeve while half-dressed. I thought about using the ref's belt once. It was just right there. And this one time, in band camp, i took a drum stick...

Thats funny dave.

This is no joke- when I was a white belt one of our colleagues did approach John D. and ask him if one can remove his/her belt to choke an opponent. The individual proceeded to remove his belt and choke his training partner as we all stared in dismay. I'm not saying who exactly. . .

Pah, some people train to win.
Others train to lose.
