I personally don't like jumping guard because I'm always thinking in terms of a street fight. In a real-life situation, I'd likely get body slammed if I tried jumping guard. That's why I'm so interested in getting better at take-downs in general, and no-gi take-downs in particular.

By the way, what did you guys think of Wednesday's class? I thought the work on takedowns was awesome. I really learned a lot.

The one Gordinho taught. He spent a lot of time on the basics of takedowns. I found it very helpful.

thats awesome. rolles messaged me and he said that the instructors at rga would consider a takedown class but that gracie jiu jitsu is a complete art. he also stated how all classes at rga start with a drill from the feet, either with basic self defence instruction or a takedown but always something from the feet.

Yeah it's Leo Leite, Tunico is his friendly nickname. His Judo is amazing, very smooth and technical. If you can, come to the 12:45pm classes, there is a lot of nage-waza training going on.
