NYC Physical Therapist Recommnedations?
by billy 2 Months ago
Can anyone recommend a good physical therapist in Manhattan? I have some nagging injuries that I'd like to rehab.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Billy,

You need to get a prescription to see a PT. Usually that would come from an orthopedic surgeon or a sports medicine doctor, so you'll have to see one of them first.

I had to see a PT a couple of times, 3 times for my shoulder and once for my hand. The last time i went was at a place called Paspa Physical Therapy.
They're pretty close to the Academy and were pretty good:

hey billy,

i don't know what injuries you have, but i know a great knee/shoulder specialist you can see that can give you the necessary prescription for pt. his name is andrew rokito at the hospital for joint disease 212 598 6008,on 18th st. & 2nd ave. the hospital for joint disease also has an excellent pt department that i have experienced many, many times over the past 10 years. i've found all of the therapists to be very skilled, most recently for my past couple of injuries i worked with hiromi, she was great.

it always helps if your therapist is easy on the eyes too.

Hey guys thanks for the replies.

I found a place in Union Square http://ussportsmed.reachlocal.net/ and actually went to an appointment today. I have some patellar tendinitis in both knees. The doctor said it wasn't that severe and I could probably be back on track after 2-3 weeks of rehab starting tomorrow. (I also have a pec/shoulder injury from benching but that has been feeling better on its own just from rest and ice and he examined it and said it was healing properly.)

So, overall I'm pretty happy eventhough I won't be at RGA for a few weeks. Better to come back healed than keep pounding away on these knees.
