Joe Sampieri (Pictures) vs. Mike Groves (Pictures) Round 1 Sampieri lands a head kick after the opponents circle and feel each other out. Groves absorbed most of it with his arm before being taken down. Sampieri working from top position within Groves' closed guard. Groves transitions for an armbar but is rebuffed. He continues to look for submissions from his back but Sampieri is a step ahead of him. Groves sweeps to top position with a leg-lock attempt but is quickly swept right back to the bottom. The referee, Kevin Mullhall stands the fighters up and Groves is dropped with a leg kick-punch combo. Sampieri pounces and finishes with strikes in the closing moments of the first round. The official time is 4:58 of the first round.

anybody watch nick serra's fight? looked good in the first round, got 3 takedowns, a few submission attempts, pushing the action until the last 45 seconds. then the second it pretty much went down hill fast.
